GIBA HOLDS REGIONAL COORDINATOR ELECTIONS IN THE VOLTA REGION

On Friday, January 19, 2018, the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) held a meeting in Ho at the Skyplus Hotel with the Volta Regional Members of GIBA. The purpose of the meeting was to conduct elections for a Regional Coordinator and a Deputy Regional Coordinator for the region. The meeting also sought to give Members the opportunity to meet and interact with the newly elected Members of the Executive Council.

The meeting which was chaired by the President, Andrew Danso-Aninkora, got off to a slow start but later picked up pace. Nominations received for the positions of Regional Coordinator and Deputy Regional Coordinator were both uncontested. When it got to the time for Members present to endorse the candidates, no objections were raised. They thus gave their unanimous endorsement for both candidates. The Regional Coordinator elect is in the person of Francis Morkporkpor Anyomi of Look FM and the Deputy Regional Coordinator elect is Daniel Yao Akpabli of Fafaa FM. They both thanked members present for their endorsement and pledged their loyalty to GIBA and promised to work together and do all within their power to grow the association while sensitizing existing members on the role of GIBA and their duties as members, as well as sensitizing radio station owners who were yet to become members of GIBA. They also asked for the assistance of members present and the Executive Council in the exercise of their duties and responsibilities.

The President, together with the Executive Council, educated members present on a number of issues including their responsibilities as media practitioners and business owners in general to the various statutory and regulatory bodies including the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO).
